You were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession — to the praise of his glory. — Ephesians 1:13-14 (Ephesians 1 13 14)

Thoughts on Verse (Ephesians 1 13 14)

God is faithful to his word. He keeps his promises. But this was not enough for him. He gave us an advance, a deposit so that we could be secure in our inheritance and look forward to the full achievement of our salvation. He gave us the Holy Spirit. When God purchases us from the bondage of our mortal bodies and brings us to our eternal home with bodies that will not age or decay, we will no longer need a deposit; We will get the full inheritance. But until we draw closer to Him, isn’t it wonderful that He makes his home within us?

My Prayer

Transcendent and yet always close to God, thank you for not making me wait to experience your presence. Thank you for giving me “a foretaste of divine glory.” Thank you for sending your blessed and promised Spirit to live in me and remind me where home truly is. Until I see you face to face, I want to honor your presence in my mortal body by living a life that is pure, holy, and a blessing to others. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
